Icon Sets
An icon set is a collection of icons with similar visual consistency or purpose. Iconomizer provides three ways to create an icon set:
Use a Built-In Icon Library
Iconomizer includes 13 open source icon libraries. To install them:
- Click the Add (+) button in the Icon Set List
- Select Install Icon Library

All included icon libraries have free licenses, so you can use the icons in your own projects freely.
Import a Folder of SVG Icons
If you have a folder of SVG icons you'd like to use:
Method 1: Drag and drop
- Select All Icons in the Icon Set List
- Drag and drop the folder into the Icons View
- An icon set will be created with the folder's name
Method 2: File chooser
- Click the Add (+) button
- Select Import Icon Set
- Choose the icons using the file chooser
Create a New Icon Set
To create an empty icon set:

- Select New Icon Set

Give the new icon set a name
![]()
then add SVG icons by either:

Using the file chooser (right-click the icon set and select Add Icons...)

Renaming Icon Sets
To rename an icon set:
- Select it in the Icon Set List and press Return, or
- Right-click and select Rename
Deleting Icon Sets
To delete an icon set:
- Select it in the Icon Set List and press Delete, or
- Right-click and select Delete
You can undo deletion with Command-Z or by selecting Undo from the Edit menu. Once Iconomizer is closed, the icon set and all its icons are permanently deleted.
Archiving Icon Sets
Iconomizer allows you to create archive files of your icon sets for backup or transfer purposes. Unlike iCloud backup, archives are saved as files on your Mac that you can store wherever you choose.
Creating an Archive
To export all your icon sets to an archive file:
- Select the Icon Set menu from the menu bar
- Select Export to Archive
- Choose a location to save the archive file
- Click Save
The archive file will contain your entire icon set library.

Restoring from an Archive
To restore icon sets from a previously saved archive:
- Select the Icon Set menu from the menu bar
- Select Restore from Archive
- Navigate to and select the archive file
- Click Open
Note: Icon sets with the same name as icon sets currently in Iconomizer are skipped to prevent duplicates.
Archive vs. iCloud Backup
- Archives are standalone files you can save anywhere (external drives, network locations, etc.)
- iCloud backups are stored in your iCloud Drive and sync across devices
- Archives are useful for local backups, transfers to other users, or version control
- Use iCloud for automatic syncing between your Macs
