iCloud Support

Iconomizer supports backing up and restoring your icon sets using iCloud. This allows you to sync your icon collections across multiple Macs or keep a secure backup in the cloud.

Setting Up iCloud on Mac

Before you can use iCloud with Iconomizer, you need to ensure iCloud is properly configured on your Mac.

Enable iCloud on Your Mac

  1. Open System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions)
  2. Click on your Apple ID at the top of the sidebar
  3. Click iCloud in the main panel
  4. Sign in with your Apple ID if you haven't already
  5. Ensure iCloud Drive is enabled by checking the toggle switch

Backing Up Icon Sets to iCloud

Once iCloud is configured on your Mac, you can back up your icon sets:

  1. In Iconomizer, select the Icon Set menu from the menu bar
  2. Select Backup to iCloud
  3. A dialog will appear to confirm you want to backup to iCloud - doing so will overwrite any Iconomizer data you have on iCloud
  4. Click OK to proceed
  5. Your entire icon set library will then be backed up to iCloud

Restoring Icon Sets from iCloud

To restore icon sets that you previously backed up to iCloud:

  1. In Iconomizer, select the Icon Set menu from the menu bar
  2. Select Restore from iCloud
  3. A dialog will appear asking you to confirm restoring
  4. Click OK to proceed
  5. The restore process will begin

Note: Backed up icon sets with the same name as icon sets currently in Iconomizer are skipped to prevent duplicates.

The restored icon sets will appear in your Icon Set List.

Notes and Tips

  • iCloud Storage: Icon sets are stored in your iCloud Drive storage. Make sure you have sufficient iCloud storage space available.
  • Sync Across Devices: Backed up icon sets are available on any Mac where you're signed in with the same Apple ID and have iCloud Drive enabled.
  • Backup Frequency: It's a good practice to back up your icon sets regularly, especially before making major changes or deletions.
  • Restore Behavior: Restoring from iCloud will not delete any existing icon sets. Icon sets with the same name as existing ones will be skipped to prevent duplicates.
  • Complete Backup: The backup operation saves your entire icon set library to iCloud, replacing any previous backup.
  • Network Required: Both backup and restore operations require an active internet connection.

Troubleshooting

Can't see Backup to iCloud option:

  • Ensure iCloud Drive is enabled in System Settings
  • Check that you're signed in to iCloud with your Apple ID
  • Verify you have available iCloud storage space

Backup or restore is slow:

  • Large icon sets may take time to upload or download
  • Check your internet connection speed
  • Ensure iCloud Drive is not syncing other large files simultaneously
